Quartermaster is a militaryor navalterm, the meaning of which depends on the country and service. In land armies, a quartermaster is generally a relatively senior soldier who supervises stores and distributes suppliesand provisions.
A Scout quartermaster within the Scout movement is responsible for maintaining all the normal camping supplies in a Scout troop or pack. This may include, but is not limited to, camping supplies, tents, “chuck boxes” (containers holding food and cooking supplies), stoves, camp fuel (propane, Naphtha, etc.), tarps, camping trailers, dining flys, etc.
Pacific Jamboree Quartermaster Stores
The QM Stores at PJ2019 will source and provide almost all the materials needed to host a Jamboree at Camp Barnard. Everything from office supplies to tents will be found, purchased, delivered, sorted, and provided to whomever needs it.
We will be on the ground at the Jamboree site from June 28thuntil at least July 16th, preparing for the Participants arrival, sorting & issuing stores and equipment, managing & maintaining QM equipment during the Jamboree, and recovering, cleaning, maintaining & disposing of all related materials once the Jamboree concludes. We will also prepare the Jamboree legacy stores for transport to the next Jamboree location.
We’ll need lots of help providing this support to the Jamboree Participants, and are looking for 4-6 OOS, including at least one or two that are able to take control of the Post Jamboree disposition of surplus equipment, staying at the site until the majority of the surplus is sold or stored for legacy.
